Job Description
The Alcon Apprentice Software Engineer opening is part of a structured 24-month apprenticeship on Alcon's Lifecycle Management (LCM) team. You will work alongside experienced engineers and gain exposure to the end-to-end lifecycle of regulated medical devices including software maintenance, platform upgrades, operating-system patching, testing and continuous improvement. It is an excellent first role for freshers who want to build a career in software engineering within the healthcare and medical-device domain, based at Alcon's Bangalore centre.
Responsibilities
Support software development, maintenance and lifecycle-management activities. Assist with operating-system patch creation and validation. Help with device testing, defect management and issue tracking. Contribute to platform upgrades and sustainment of regulated medical-device software. Explore emerging technologies, including AI applications in engineering workflows.
Requirements
Bachelor's degree (B.E / B.Tech) in Computer Science or Information Science. Strong academic background and a quality-oriented mindset. Basic understanding of software-development fundamentals. Basic programming knowledge in C / C++ / Python / Java / C# is a plus. Good documentation, communication and teamwork skills; exposure to Git or Azure DevOps is a bonus.
